Crisis member hired at St. James' Park
a Crisis member who graduated from Gateshead College in Newcastle following his Crisis Skylight Cafe training has secured a job at the home of Newcastle United Football Club.
Randy Paul (main picture) had been working as kitchen porter and breakfast chef at hotels around the city, but came to Crisis Skylight Cafe to get some further training and decided to apply to Gateshead College, where he achieved his Level 2 Professional Cookery qualification.
Randy has recently beaten a huge number of candidates to secure the position of matchday chef at St. James's Park, the home of Newcastle F.C.
The Skylight café on City Road is part of Crisis, a national charity that helps single homeless people or people at risk of homelessness turn their lives around and find their way back into employment or education by offering free training and work experience.
The café offers homeless people a chance to learn skills essential to a career in the catering industry. Qualifications offered include Level 2 Food Hygiene, Level 1 Essentials in Catering and the Welcome Host certificate.
