First Annual Crisis Members' Conferences
The first Annual Crisis Members' Conferences were held in London and Newcastle last week, each attracting nearly 60 members as well as hosting speakers from Barnardo's, Homeless Link and Launchpad.
Five members of Crisis Skylight Newcastle were amongst the 60-odd group of Crisis members that assembled for Crisis' first Annual Members' Conference. Aimed at improving knowledge on how members can become more involved with the organisation and discourse on the future of the various Crisis schemes including Crisis Skylight - an education programme aimed at homeless people to give the right training and skills to effectively enter the workplace.
Other participatory discussions included 'The Crisis Client Involvement Strategy', helping to explain how Crisis is creating opportunities for their members to work more closely with the organisation, 'A future vision of Skylight', which laid out plans for the development of the Crisis education programme and 'Growing jobs for homeless people', given by Launchpad. Barbardo's talk was entitled 'Young and Homeless'.
The Conference ended with Crisis' key decision-makers answering questions from members, with progressive and notable results. An extremely well-planned and orchestrated event that provided real answers and input for both members and Crisis workers alike.
