Crisis auction hits the right chord

James Blunt holding the guitar he donated

The bidding has closed on a special auction, featuring guitars which were donated by huge names in music including Pink Floyd, the Kings of Leon, Status Quo, and James Blunt.

The auction was designed to raise funds for Crisis, with the money raised going towards the charity’s mission to end homelessness. The artists got involved and donated the guitars because they are supportive of the charity’s aims, and kindly posted and promoted the auction for Crisis on their websites and Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The guitars in the auction were:

A White Fender Stratocaster signed by the members of Status Quo

An Epiphone Sheraton II signed by the Kings of Leon

A guitar donated and signed by all three remaining members of Pink Floyd, hand painted by Ian Emes with a recreation of the ‘Time' sequence from the Dark Side of the Moon album.

The guitar auction ran for two weeks, until Thursday 14 July, and the star item which sold for the highest price was the Pink Floyd guitar, which was the subject of a furious bidding war, and eventually sold for £16,025.
