Crisis staff member carries the Olympic Flame in North East Torch Relay
A staff member at Crisis Skylight Newcastle was one of a select few to be chosen to carry the Olympic Torch through the North East on its journey to the Capital.
Kate Upshall Davis, a mental health coordinator at Crisis Skylight Newcastle was nominated by her father to be a Torchbearer during the Olympic Torch Relay and is one of 8,000 Torchbearers to have carried the Olympic Flame through more than 1,000 locations across the UK.
On the day Kate was supported by colleagues, Crisis Skylight members, and her friends and family.
Over the last three years Kate has taken up running and has raised over £6,000 for her chosen charities - Crisis and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Her fundraising has included running The New York Marathon and The Great North Run and Swim.
The Olympic Flame arrived in the UK on 18 May 2012 before setting out on a 70-day Olympic Torch Relay. The Olympic Flame stands for peace, unity and friendship.
Torchbearers were nominated by people close to them and who consider the nominee to be an inspirational member of their local community.
