Crisis wins national award

The Crisis Employment Services team has scooped the Third Sector Excellence Award for Charity Partnerships at an award ceremony in London for its pioneering work with other homelessness agencies through Skills for Jobs for Homeless People. Our Fundraising and Communications teams were also nominated.

Crisis leads a London-wide consortium of homelessness charities that launched the Skills for Jobs for Homeless People earlier this year, which aims to break down the barriers facing homeless people in finding sustainable employment through delivering Information, Advice and Guidance, one-to-one support and employment-focused training courses.

As a result of the programme, participants are benefitting from the renewed self-esteem and confidence resulting from improved employability and a steady job and most importantly the means to afford a home of their own. Employers are gaining motivated, well-trained employees with improved chances of long-term retention through ongoing support of employees once in work.

The consortium includes some of the most established and experienced homeless organisations in London: St Mungo’s, Broadway, The Salvation Army, Connection at St Martin’s, The Passage, Business Action on Homelessness, Brent Homeless User Group.
