T-shirt design competition

Online t-shirt design company, All Tropical, is running a competition for people to design a t-Shirt to raise awareness of homelessness.

Crisis played host to the 8th Human Library event in which thought provoking stories and experiences from members, volunteers and staff from diverse ethnic backgrounds were shared with the public in the recent celebration of Black History Month.

Newcastle is hosting a wide range of creative events this season. There are lots of activities to get involved in including Cake Decorating and Gift Wrapping.

Crisis is delighted to announce that Rabobank, the official sponsors of the 2011 Square Mile Run, have kindly agreed to provide electronic chip timing for the event on June 9.


 

April 2011

17 April is the date of the London Marathon, one of the biggest events in the global marathon calendar. On the day, several runners will be lacing up their trainers and taking to the start line to help raise money for Crisis.


 

Crisis is recruiting volunteers to help with the No Second Night Out project, aiming to help people who find themselves sleeping rough for the first time and stop them from spiralling down into a long term life on the streets.


 

The Ethical Enterprise and Employment Network (3xE), Crisis' national social enterprise network for the homelessness sector, has launched the second in a series of infosheets, aiming to help people who want to set up a social enterprise.

For almost ten years, Nick Abbey, the Chief Executive of the ExtraCare Charitable Trust in Coventry, has been running the London Marathon in support of Crisis. Nick, aged 55, has raised almost ?70,000 in total since he first had the idea, and this year he will undertake the marathon one final time.

Crisis Skylight Newcastle recently held their annual volunteer bowling championship; the only championship where everyone's a winner (because no-one knows how to bowl!).


 

January 2011

Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people, has opened nine special centres across London providing companionship, food and access to vital services for about 2,500 homeless and vulnerably housed people over the Christmas period. Our centre in Newcastle is also open.
