Crisis SmartMove

Crisis SmartMove is a nationwide network of best-practice model deposit schemes that provide non-statutory homeless people with access to good quality accommodation in the private sector.

Crisis works with 25 voluntary organisations around the UK to deliver SmartMove. Since its launch in 1997, Crisis SmartMove has helped 10,000 people into housing. The local organisations that deliver SmartMove are embedded in their community and are well placed to meet local need.

The projects that make up the SmartMove network have evolved over time and amassed a wealth of expertise, which is one of the scheme’s greatest strengths. Crisis fosters the sharing of good practice across the network, provides training and advice for project workers and continues to develop the SmartMove model.
