Centres 2008

A description of the nine centres for Crisis Christmas 2008.

The Day Centres

Day Centre 1

This centre is open from 8 am - 8 pm each day of the week and will provide essential services, three hot meals a day, Learning & Skills activities and much more. It will hold 200 guests.

The centre's location is not yet known, but will be in London Underground's Zone 1. We will tell you where it is at the end of November.

Day Centre 2

Operates in the same way as Centre 1 but in a different area of Central London. It will open from 8 am - 8 pm and hold 200 guests. It will provide essential services, three hot meals a day, Learning & Skills activities and much more.

Location of this Centre in not yet know but will be in London Underground's Zone 1. We will tell volunteers the exact location at the end of November.

Day Centre 3

This will be in the East End of London, near Liverpool Street. It will provide the same services as the other day centres, but will focus more on Learning and Skills activities. It will hold 100 guests.

The Centre will be in Commercial Street, E1. The exact address will be available from the Volunteer Secure Area of the website.

Broadway Day Centre

Based in West London, this Day Centre will be opening for the third year in a row offering the same service and purpose as other day centres. It will accomodate 100 guests.

The Centre will be located in Shepherds Bush, West London. We will give volunteers the exact address after they have registered to volunteer at Crisis Christmas.

Deptford Day Centre

This Day Centre is based in South East London, and will be opening for the tenth year in a row offering the same services as our other day centres. It will accomodate 100 guests.

Residential Centres

Quiet Centre

Accomodating up to 100 guests, this centre will be available for guests who prefer not to be in a busy and bustling centre. This will be open 24 hours which means sleeping accomodation will be available.

The centre's location is not yet known, but will be in London Underground's Zone 1. We will tell you where it is at the end of November.

Dependency Centre

This centre will open 24 hours a day. It will accomodate up to 100 guests who have alcohol or drugs dependencies. Specialised services will be available here but the centre will also provide other services and learning & skills activities.

Rough Sleepers Centre

This centre is new in 2008. It will provide essential emergency services, hot meals and sleeping accomodation for the most vulnerable homeless people. It will accomodate up to 250 guests.

Women's Centre

This centre is women only. It will hold up to 100 guests and will operate in the same way as other residential centres.

Female guests who do not feel comfotable in mixed centres will be referred to this centre.
