“Dollar Thrifty is delighted to announce Crisis as our preferred charity for 2005. One of the benefits of running our business is that we can use some of our time and funds to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We hope that CRISIS will benefit a great deal from the Thrifty network’s ongoing commitment to them. “

Bloomberg are one of Crisis’ largest Open Christmas supporters providing Gift in Kind donations for the project for the past 10 years, ranging from electrical engineers to goody bags distributed to all of our homeless guests who leave the shelters when they close on 30 December. Bloomberg also provide volunteers to help set-up the shelters in the first two weeks of Christmas. Thousands of litres of paint and hundreds of metres of carpet are used to refurnish the warehouses and derelict buildings to become homes during the Christmas period for over 1500 homeless people.

Legal & General employee Steve Barrey dreamed up a culinary caper to support Crisis Open Christmas this year. In a bid to raise cash for Crisis, staff at the insurance firm's 2 sites in Surrey and Sussex were encouraged to give up their usual restaurant luncheon fare for one week and opted instead for more charitable ‘soup and roll’ rations. | |
Colleagues paid just £1 with all proceeds going to Crisis, and for every £1 raised the insurer doubled the donation as part of its charitable giving programme. Steve said, “We’re always looking for some tasty ideas for charitable giving and this seemed to fit the bill. It allows us to be reminded that there are people out there less fortunate than ourselves, and gives us the chance to do something". The fundraiser raised over £5000 for Crisis Open Christmas with hopes to grow the idea and even persuade Britain’s other companies to become ‘Soupa Stars’ for the homeless in the future.
