When will I hear the result of my application?

Decisions take six weeks from the closing date. We inform the applicant’s support worker of the outcome. The panel’s decision is final.

Who receives the money?

Once an applicant is successful, the cheque is then sent to the organisation who is supporting them. The money is not given to the award winner. All money is to be spent as specified by Changing Lives, and not for any other purpose.

What can or can’t I apply for?

Awards can be used for course fees, equipment or materials for courses, tools and equipment to get back to work, or to set up a business

Will Crisis fund all types of courses?

All course should lead to a recognised qualification but Crisis will not fund university fees (undergraduate and post-graduate)

Who could the support organisation be?

Anyone who is providing ongoing help - this could be a key worker, someone providing guidance concerning training or employment, a housing support officer or someone like a mental health worker

How are the size of awards determined?

All applications are assessed by an external assessment panel who determine the size of any awards - awards may be for less than the amount applied for, depending on funds available and the panel’s perception of need.
