Fundraising ideas

Online Fundraising

Creating an online fundraising page is a quick and easy way to raise money. You can include information about Crisis and personalise your page by adding a photo.

You can change your e-mail signature at work and at home - adding a line at the bottom including the address of your webpage.

You don't need to stop fundraising once you've crossed the finish line, you can update your page and e-mail your supporters with news of your success. You may find that some people will sponsor you again in recognition of your achievement!

Sponsorship forms

You can also download a traditional paper sponsorship form. Don't just ask your friends and family to sponsor you - ask if they will circulate a sponsorship form on your behalf.

Remember to attach information about yourself, the Great North Run and the projects at Crisis

Fundraising at work

Sweepstake
Organise a Great North Run sweepstake. Encourage your colleagues to predict your finish time and ask for suggested donation of £1 a guess. Simply download the sweepstake form print it off and and source a prize for the winner!

Bad taste day
Organise a bad taste clothing day at work. Ask your colleagues for a suggested donation of £2 to enter and source a prize for the winner.

Fundraising at home

Public collections
Use local business to your advantage and organise a collection in a public place, at your local hairdressers or pub for example. Remember to obtain permission from whoever is responsible before collecting. If you require additional materials, such as collection tins, posters or balloons,
please send us an email

Eat out
Organise a trip to a restaurant. Agree a set price per head with restaurant owners and then add an additional suggested donation of £5 per head for Crisis. Invite your friends and let them know how it works. You raise money for Crisis, the restaurant makes money on drinks, a lovely time is had by all and everyone is a winner!

Car boot sale
When you have exhausted all avenues for sponsorship, ask people to donate unwanted gift items and belongings. Take them to a car boot sale and sell them on behalf of Crisis.
