How many are homeless in London?

• Across London, homelessness remains a serious issue and the official homelessness statistics only tell part of the story. In addition to those who are recorded as homeless by local authorities there are others whose homelessness is unaccounted for - the hidden homeless.

• 15,000 people live in hostels and other accommodation for homeless people in London, and this does not include people in bed and breakfasts and squats and sleeping on the floors of friends and family - the vast majority of whom are single people without dependent children.

• More than 300,000 London households (over one in 10) are now waiting for a social home. In addition, Crisis estimates that there are many tens of thousands more Londoners who are living in hidden homeless situations.
