Leaving a gift to Crisis in your will

Including a gift to Crisis in your will is perhaps the most special, personal way that you can make your concern for homeless people live on for many years to come. Your gift to Crisis doesn't have to be big to make a difference to the lives of homeless people. Many of our supporters leave us a residue of their estate, having provided for loved ones.

It is easy to include a gift to Crisis in your will. If you feel you would like to proceed, we suggest that in the first instance you contact your solicitor who is best placed to give impartial guidance and will advise you on how to make a legacy to Crisis. There is no specific wording that we require - however, you should include our charity number: 1082947.

If you feel you would like to talk your decision through further or you have any questions at this stage about supporting Crisis' work with a legacy, please do not hesitate to contact Zafar Zabbar on 020 7426 3857 or zafar.zabbar@crisis.org.uk

A "thank you" story

Volunteering for Crisis is a tremendously rewarding and memorable experience and some volunteers have chosen to mark this through remembering Crisis in their will. William Watts, a retired electrical engineer, was a volunteer with the Crisis Open Christmas for over 15 years. In fact, he was 80 years old when he last volunteered in December 2000. Mr Watts, who sadly passed away in 2001, generously remembered Crisis through a gift in his will.

Throughout his life, Mr Watts was always concerned with those less fortunate than himself and took real pleasure in listening to the many varied stories guests had to tell.

His son told Crisis just how much his father enjoyed being part of the Crisis Open Christmas: (My father) gained tremendous satisfaction helping each year and enjoyed meeting your guests, many of whom had wonderful stories to tell. Thanks to your organisation and your guests for providing my father with so many wonderful Christmas'.

Mr Watts has ensured that his support for Crisis will live on for years to come. In fact, his enthusiasm for Crisis Open Christmas has influenced others so much that his grandson volunteered for the first time this year.

Thank you to the family of Mr Watts who have kindly allowed us to share his story.
