Why are applications refused?

Refused, incomplete and ineligible applications

Sometimes applications to Changing Lives are unsuccessful. This could happen for a number of reasons.

Applications will be sent back to your support worker if they are ineligible or incomplete.

Ineligible applications

Applicants must fulfil all eligibility criteria or applications will be sent back to your support worker. If you are not sure if you fulfil these criteria then please contact us.

Incomplete Applications

Make sure your application is complete or it will be sent back to your support worker. You must include the following information:

  • A complete application form. You must answer all questions
  • Information about your course and confirmation that you have enrolled or are eligible to attend
  • A full support statement
  • A signed partnership agreement from your support worker

Refused applications

Your application may be complete and eligible but it may be refused by the panel. Some common reasons for refusal include:

  • The course is not accredited and does not lead to a recognised qualification
  • The equipment applied for is not necessary. If there is adequate equipment supplied at the college, the panel may feel that it is not necessary for an applicant to have their own
  • The business plan is poor. Please ensure that you include as much information as possible and include additional sheets if needed
  • The course is not needed to achieve your goal or the course is not value for money
