Meet our friendly and capable staff
Christine is our Café manager. Dawn is our assistant Café manager, and Michael is our Kitchen co-ordinator.
Not only do they make sure the food we serve is excellent, they also support trainees who are or have been homeless, to reach their full potential.
Christine spent 18 years lecturing in catering at Northumberland College. She has now brought these skills to the Skylight Café to help our trainees progress. Her knowledge and networks in the catering industry have been very helpful, and her no-nonsense approach ensures the smooth and effective running of a very successful café.
Michael is using his 35 years' experience in the kitchen to train others. His carefree attitude helps trainees relax and feel comfortable.
Michael can normally be heard singing before he is seen.
Dawn has a mixed background of working in catering and in the homelessness sector. She has taken on this role to help and support marginalised people to regain self-esteem and move on into paid employment. In the Skylight Café you will find Dawn is never far away from the coffee machine.
Opening hours
Our Crisis Skylight café is open to the public from 8 am until 3 pm Monday to Friday.
We hope to see you there to try the range of freshly-prepared food, the delights of our range of coffees or to sample a selection of our home-made desserts - all produced by our trainees.
