Crisis SmartMove offers help to people who are homeless. This includes people who are living in hostels, bed and breakfasts or staying with friends. People must be able to live independently, although some support is available.
In the year July 2006 to June 2007, Crisis Smartmove offered advice and assistance to 6,839 people. 1,127 clients were helped into long-term accomodation. Click on the following link to download our latest annual statistics for further information (PDF 88.65KB).
SmartSkills is a learner-led, goal-orientated course run by five SmartMove projects and accredited by City and Guilds. It is custom-built to meet the needs of each candidate and can recognise skills and achievements at any level. SmartSkills provides a flexible learning framework through which candidates develop their skills and confidence, and gain formal recognition of their achievements.
In 2006, following the wind-up of the National Rent Deposit Forum (NRDF), Crisis SmartMove began delivering the core functions of the NRDF and took on a national advisory role for agencies operating deposit schemes. We are currently working with the London Housing Foundation (LHF) to develop a series of tools to enable London based agencies to engage with the Private Rented Sector (PRS) more effectively. So far this has resulted in a searchable database with details of all schemes providing access to the PRS in London. You can also download a full report on this work.
Crisis funded the core services of five SmartMove projects for three years under the Regional Development Programme. Crisis then commissioned Geoffrey Randall at Resource and Information Services to write an evaluation of the programme, which also has implications for SmartMove as a whole.
