What is a deposit scheme?

Deposit schemes have two client groups: homeless people and landlords. They help homeless people find and keep homes in the private rented sector, and they help landlords find tenants.

Renting privately is often out-of-reach for homeless people. This may be because of:

Deposit schemes provide landlords with a guarantee in place of a cash deposit, on behalf of the tenant. They also offer landlords and tenants a broad structure of support to ensure that a tenancy is sustainable.
