What kind of support is available at Crisis Skylight Newcastle?
Support and Guidance can be offered through a Progression Co-ordinator;

We can help you to join workshops and activities in the centre.

We can give you advice and guidance on achieving your goals, and discuss ways that you may want to progress

We have good links with many different organisations in the region, who give advice and information on a many issues. We can help you set up meetings with external agencies and services who can help you as well.

We can give you advice about training, volunteering opportunities and courses available to you, at Crisis Skylight Newcastle, and other organisations in the region.
How do I get this support?

You can ask a Progression Co-ordinator directly to make an appointment for you. Any member of staff can help you to find a Progression Co-ordinator.
- You can arrange to have regular meetings with a Progression Co-ordinator, or just ask when you need some help.
Can you help me find a job?
Yes, there are lots of ways that we can support you in finding a job.
Progression Co-ordinators run a Job Club every week, where you will get help with:

Job search
- Completing application forms and cover letters
- Writing your CV
- Interview advice and preparation
We can also make individual regular meetings with you to help you look for a job, and we also offer job interview practice.
I am homeless, can you find me somewhere to live?
Crisis Skylight Newcastle is a Learning and Skills Centre, and therefore does not offer any accommodation.
We don't have any say in how quickly you can access a home, or supported accommodation.
- However, we can offer you support and help you get in touch with other organisations that will be able to help.

We have links with many external agencies that are there to help those who are homeless, and we can help you make contact with them.

We also have good links with the local council, who offer a drop-in service to our members every week. Here you can get advice and information on housing and other options available to you.
Can I become a volunteer at Crisis Skylight Newcastle?
We have several opportunities for volunteering at Crisis Skylight Newcastle. If you are a member of the centre, we ask that you attend workshops and activities and work with a Progression Co-ordinator on a regular basis for 12 weeks. You can then discuss what you would like to do at the centre, and we can help you to apply for the volunteer programme. Progression Co-ordinators will offer you 1:1 support throughout the time you are volunteering at the centre.
Can you help me to find a place at College or University?
Yes, we can help you to find the College or University course that is right for you. We can help you to apply, and we can also go with you on the enrolment day.
Crisis can also offer some support with grants and funding if you are applying for Further Education (colleges) or Higher Education (universities) and need help with equipment costs.
