Crisis Skylight South Wales

We offer structured courses, taster sessions and one-to-one support to help people learn, develop skills and improve their confidence.

The overall aim of our work is to support people in their journey out of homelessness and towards independence.

Crisis Skylight South Wales recognises that every person has different preferences, needs and abilities. We aim to value diversity positively and this is reflected in our services being accessible and inclusive to people from all sections of the community.

Volunteering

Volunteers play an important and valuable role in our service.

Football Training and Match Volunteer

We have joined Street Football Wales and will be delivering monthly football practice sessions in preparation for the league. These sessions are designed to be active, fun sessions to help members get fit, improve their confidence and improve their football skills.

We are looking for a motivated individual to support us at league matches and with the training of our 4-a-side Crisis football team. In collaboration with their supervisor, the volunteer will plan training sessions and attend events with the team, the Crisis Skylights.

Match days are on a Thursday, once a month and the training sessions will be on the Friday prior to the match day. There is a possibility of additional sessions for which full notice will be given.

Housing Support Volunteer

We are looking for a friendly and reliable individual who can support our Housing Coach to help members on their journey out of homelessness. As a volunteer you will be helping our Housing Coach to make a difference to members they are supporting to find their own accommodation. Your role will be office based and will include a mixture of admin tasks and contacting members by phone.

Crisis Action Team Member

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, lively and dedicated people to support our campaigning and fundraising efforts across our 50th year. You will be part of a team tasked with supporting the events and activities marking our 50th year, talking to community groups, schools and colleges and taking the lead to find ways to ensure the public have a greater understanding of homelessness.

What’s distinct about this role is that it’s designed to fit in with your life. This role isn’t about giving an hour of your time at a set time each week. We don’t expect you to make every event or appointment and we don’t want you to feel guilty if you’re not available. By giving us your time in this way you will be fighting to end homelessness.

Collection Box Coordinator

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer with great organisational skills and an interest in fundraising. But no fundraising experience required!

In this role you will build positive relationships with your local shops, businesses and groups. Tell them about Crisis, the work we do and how this benefits our members, you will then ask them to host one of our collection boxes. You will monitor the collection boxes you have placed and arrange to empty them every few months.

Timings: Flexible (1- 2 hours per week). Ideal minimum commitment 3 months.

How to apply

For more information on any of our roles and how to apply contact our Volunteer coordinator, Victoria Rodwell on 07422 072906 or email volunteering.southwales@crisis.org.uk.

Volunteer roles without regular commitment

If your circumstances make it difficult to commit to a regular role we would still love for you to volunteer with Crisis. We have member events, fundraising activities and campaigning opportunities that all benefit from enthusiastic volunteers.

Please contact volunteering.southwales@crisis.org.uk if you would like more information, or to be kept informed of upcoming events.
