General Volunteer

Guests being served meal by volunteer

You will be absolutely vital to the smooth running of Crisis at Christmas as one of our general volunteers. We need more than 8,000 sociable and helpful people to work on a variety of tasks such as welcoming guests to our centres, serving food, sorting bedding and generally making sure things go to plan.

A big part of your job will be getting to know our guests and by volunteering for three or more shifts, our guests will be comforted by seeing a familiar face. No special expertise is needed (you will be managed by experienced shift leaders) just a general willingness to get involved and a desire to do something positive for homeless people this Christmas. Volunteering for three or more shifts will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and become a key part of the team.

Our five day centres are located in North London, East London, South London, South East London and West London (exact locations to be confirmed). Our residential centres, for guests with specialist needs, will be in London Zones 1-3; location details will be released in December.

We need you to commit to a minimum of two shifts but we strongly encourage everyone to sign up for as many shifts as possible and help us maintain consistency through the project. The minimum age is 16, but 16 and 17-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult. There is no upper age limit and you can also volunteer with your friends.
