Last Hour Appeal
One hour's salary could help change lives
About Last Hour Appeal
The Crisis Last Hour Appeal is simple and effective. It allows your employees to donate the last hour of their salary directly to Crisis. All donations are pooled together and donated to Crisis via your existing Workplace Giving scheme. Supporting Crisis through the Last Hour Appeal is easy and demands little time or administration on the part of your company and all proceeds help to end homelessness.
How it works
- You send an email to all staff outlining the scheme, Crisis and how the money raised will be spent
- Through this email employees are invited to download a Last Hour donation form. This could be attached to the email or hosted on your intranet or downloaded from the Crisis website
- The employee completes and sumbits the form to the Payroll Department
- The Payroll Department processes the deductions, pools the monies together and transfers to a suitable account, e.g. CAF, Charitable Giving or Charities Trust account
- Payroll sends copy of pledge forms to Crisis and to the payroll giving agency
- Your company's donation is then transferred to Crisis by your payroll giving agency
- You can then send a second email to all staff as a thank you and to inform them of how much they have raised
Benefits to Crisis, employees and employers
The Last Hour Appeal offers a number of benefits for your company and your staff:
- Simple and easy way of giving as it requires minimal effort from your employees
- Low cost but effective as it has a low monitory impact on the individual but has a large impact collectively
- Tax effective as the amount employees give is taken from their gross salary before tax is deducted
- Corporate citizenship: it allows you and your employees to make a real difference to the lives of homeless people this Christmas
If you'd like to get involved, here is a template email and a donation form to send to your staff
