Crisis pre-tenancy training

Accredited pre-tenancy training course

Renting Ready is Crisis’ Level 1 accredited pre-tenancy training course developed for homeless people and those with little experience of independent living. Renting Ready is delivered to external organisations throughout the UK by Crisis' housing trainer and in some areas of England and Scotland by our regional Crisis services.

The Renting Ready course and workbook (see below to get a flavour of the content!) help tenants understand how to find a private rented home and provides comprehensive learning around essential independent living skills. It covers housing options and housing law, living on a limited budget, looking after a home and managing relationships with landlords and flatmates. Each course module has clear learning outcomes with recommended exercises.

Training options

The Level 1 certificate allows learners to evidence their understanding of independent living to potential landlords, increases their ability to sustain future tenancies and avoid further instances of homelessness.

The current training options are:

    • Crisis delivering the training to your clients and managing all aspects of the course/accreditation
    • Crisis training your staff to deliver the course, with options for managing accreditation administration. These options require a member of staff from your organisation with training or teaching experience
