Crisis Skylight Edinburgh

Crisis Skylight Edinburgh at Grassmarket Community Project

Crisis has been offering Skylight services in Edinburgh since September 2010 and so far we have worked with over 100 people.

We work in partnership with the Grassmarket Community Project and offer a range of learning activities in their premises in the Kirkhouse in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Providing free creative and practical classes

Cookery classSenior tutor, Siobhán Cavanagh, and a team of five sessional tutors work with Grassmarket staff to provide literacy and numeracy support for their creative social enterprises, and gardening and cooking activities.  Crisis contributes a music programme and a book group as well as classes in local history and community archaeology.

Grassmarket Community Project’s new learning centre will open in January 2013 with dedicated space for Crisis to provide an expanded programme of Skylight activities.

Outreach

Crisis Skylight also offers an outreach service to four of the hostels in the Old Town; our sessional tutors and volunteers provide tuition in guitar-playing and creative arts.
