Things you need to include

For all applications you need to include:

  • A complete, signed application form (all questions answered)
  • A Support Statement from the Support Worker who has been working with you for at least six months and is committed to a continuing relationship
  • Two different quotes from websites or catalogues for all items applied for (not courses), ensuring VAT is calculated into the total
  • Evidence of homelessness within the last five years. For example, a statement from someone working in housing sector (this might be your support worker), a letter from the Local Authority who housed you, or a letter from a Hostel or Night Shelter worker who can confirm homeless status. (N.B. Crisis’ definition of homelessness is not just rough sleeping it includes time spent in hostels, night shelters, squats, B&B’s and periods sleeping on friends’ floors).
  • Evidence of being free from substance misuse for six months. This can either be included in the Support Worker’s statement or as a supplementary letter from a drug or alcohol service that knows you
  • Evidence of UK/EU citizenship or Right to Remain. If not a UK/EU citizen we need to see photocopy of your home office letter or something that makes clear your status in the UK and how many years left on on your leave to remain status.

Any other relevant information you believe will improve your application. For example:

  • references from other support agencies showing progression or course/business suitability;
  • information concerning any prior qualifications/experience;
  • samples of work or preparation for your application

For an education application you also need to include:

  • Full details of the chosen course from the relevant college. For example, a copy of the prospectus or internet print out of course details. Prospectuses are usually available on request, and most respectable training providers publish internet summaries of their courses. In other cases you may have to ask the training provider to send you a breakdown of the course to include in your application.
  • Evidence that you are likely to gain a place on the course once the funding is aquired. For example, a letter from the college confirming your eligibility (available from all colleges on request), a letter of enrolment, a letter confirming conditional or unconditional offer of acceptance, or clear information that your qualifications and/or experience match the entry requirements.

For a self-employment application you also need to include:

  • A complete business application form with cashflow and all other questions answered
  • Evidence that you have attended a small business course (more information)
  • It would also be preferable to include a personal business plan with your application

Make your own copy of the application
