Sometimes a little encouragement goes a long way. We are looking for promotions volunteers to visit partner organisations, tell members and potential members about Crisis services, and encourage them to come along and join in. The role will involve maintaining links with our partner organisations whether by email, phone calls or in person. It will also involve visits to the venues we use to deliver our classes and partner organisations across Edinburgh. This role is flexible, you don't need to be available at the same time every week.
Arts admin assistant
Did you know that we have a vibrant, diverse arts programme? We run classes and workshops in art, drama and music, and work produced by our members is showcased in our annual arts festival 'Art in Crisis'.
Do you have an interest in the arts and office experience? Are you available for 7-14 hours per week? You could be our new Arts admin assistant helping to organise and promote our classes and events.
You can find more information about our arts festival on the Art in Crisis page of our website.
Please view the role description for our Arts Admin assistant for more information.
Are you a qualified counsellor (or training to be and looking for experience?)
Our progression team support members with practical issues such as housing and employment, but often there are emotional issues they need to overcome to progress further.
We are looking for volunteer counsellors to provide support for our members with mild to moderate issues. The issues you will be dealing with may include low confidence or self-esteem, isolation, depression, life after addiction (members dealing with current addiction issues would be referred to a more appropriate service) and relationship breakdown, which is the leading cause of homelessness in Scotland.
Counselling will take place in Crisis offices and you will receive regular support from the Progression manager.
Flagship fundraising event volunteer
Did you know that Crisis will be 50 next year? Although we are not celebrating our anniversary (we would have hoped to have ended homelessness before now), we are using it as an opportunity to spread awareness and gain support for Crisis.
We will be holding a flagship fundraising event and are looking for an enthusiastic, organised volunteer to help.
See our Flagship fundraising event manager volunteer role description for more information, or contact us if you would like to know more.
Volunteer roles without regular commitment
If your circumstances make it difficult to commit to a regular role we would still love for you to volunteer with Crisis. We have member events, fundraising activities and campaigning opportunities that all benefit from enthusiastic volunteers.
Please email us if you would like more information, or to be kept informed of upcoming events.
If you would like to apply for any of our volunteer roles please download the application form and return it to our volunteering email address or post it to the Volunteer Coordinator, Crisis Skylight Edinburgh, Crichton House, 4 Crichton Close, EH8 8DT.
Please note, applications for Crisis at Christmas are only taken through the online application process which opens in October. We are unable to accept applications before then.
If so, you could gain valuable work experience volunteering through Project Scotland!
Project Scotland can match you with a suitable placement and provide support (training and mentoring) to get the most out of your volunteering.
Crisis Skylight Edinburgh have Project Scotland opportunities available now. Contact Project Scotland for more details.
Other ways to help Crisis
We rely on your generosity to change homeless people’s lives. We welcome donations of all sizes. We welcome people raising money for us through events and sponsorship, and the volunteering of time and skills.
