What can a grant be used for?
Crisis Changing Lives grants are normally used for:
- Course fees for accredited courses below degree level
- Equipment or tools needed to complete any accredited course (including degree level and above). Examples are: books, specific tools, stationery, specialist clothing, electrical equipment
- HGV training and licences, SIA training and licences, websites for businesses, business start up equipment and tools
- Equipment or tools needed to set up as self-employed
- Tools for experienced tradesmen and tradeswomen who are actively looking to return to work
- Practical costs to start a small business and become self employed.
Crisis Changing Lives grants cannot be used for:
- Unversity course fees (you can however apply for equipment and tools)
- Computers for most part time or low level courses
- Regular driving lessons and licences
- Second-hand goods
- Non-accredited courses or equipment for non-accredited courses
- Basic or general skills courses (e.g. ESOL, ECDL or CLAIT)
- Course fees or equipment for international students
- Course fees or equipment for courses taking place outside the UK
- Rent or utility costs (i.e. gas, phone, internet)
- Food and drink
- Travel
