Welfare to Work Guidance
The current welfare benefits system is hugely complex. This is also true of the rules relating to what types of activities are allowed by Jobcentre Plus for someone undertaking training, volunteering or work activities. This can sometimes act as a barrier for customers trying to escape the ‘benefits trap'. This section will support both clients and advisers on some of the more complex aspects in the current welfare to work world, as well as the benefits system. It will offer clear and succinct explanations to de-mystify what types of activity customers can safely undertake to improve their employment chances, and how that activity may affect their income.
