SmartMove provides homeless or vulnerably housed people with comprehensive housing advice and access to good quality accommodation in the private sector. It offers landlords a guarantee in place of the traditional deposit. It can provide the tenants with ongoing support and advice to enable them to sustain their tenancies, as well as befriending support from volunteers for new tenants who may be living independently for the first time.

Housing in Swansea comprises of owner-occupiers, local authority and registered social landlords and growing private rented sector.
The Local Authority has a landlord registration and accreditation scheme as well also a landlords' forum.
To qualify for a bond, clients need to be: 18 years old or above, single people or couples without dependent children living with them, homeless or threatened with homelessness, in receipt of benefits or on a low wage, have a local connection with Swansea, have no housing duty owed to them by the Local Authority, and have no outstanding Bond Board Debt. It can take longer to find suitable affordable properties for this group.
Screening procedures ensure that landlords have not been reported for poor management practices, or that there are no outstanding notices on the property.
Swansea Smartmove also operates a Smartskills project.
