SmartMove provides homeless or vulnerably housed people with comprehensive housing advice and access to good quality accommodation in the private sector. It offers landlords a guarantee in place of the traditional deposit. It can provide the tenants with ongoing support and advice to enable them to sustain their tenancies, as well as befriending support from volunteers for new tenants who may be living independently for the first time.

The SmartMove Scheme being operated by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is aimed specifically at assisting individuals who are experiencing or have a history of drug or alcohol misuse. Referrals may be made by the individual or via a statutory or voluntary sector agency.
Neath Port Talbot is located to the West of Bridgend and to the East of Swansea. The County Borough is bordered to the North by Powys and to the South by the Bristol Channel and is a mixture of rural and urban areas.
