Volunteer with the Progression Team

At Crisis Skylight Edinburgh we like to find innovative and interesting ways to engage volunteers. Our volunteering roles support and enhance our service provision and also provide meaningful opportunities for our volunteers to help us in our mission to end homelessness.
Progression coaches work one-to-one with our members, helping them to identify their own goals and work towards them in a way that builds their confidence, improves life skills and enables them to move sustainably out of homelessness.
We are now recruiting volunteers to work with our Progression Team, giving additional support to our existing members and allowing the Progression Team to take on additional new referrals.
We have three new volunteer roles, one each to support Progression coaches, our Housing coach and our Work and Learning coach.
The progression volunteer will assist the team with admin, (including typing up progression plans, outcomes and feedback). This volunteer will also support members to attend meetings, or shop for essential items (like shoes for an interview etc). This is a great opportunity to find out more about progression work and make a substantial difference in enabling our members to move out of homelessness.
The Work and Learning volunteer will work closely with our Work and Learning coach. She will have identified types of roles or courses that would be suitable for the member, and helped them to create a C.V. The volunteer will support them with job searching and making applications. Although the short term goal is to enable members to find work, it is also vitally important to help them to develop their skills to do this independently.
Our Housing Coach supports members into new tenancies, the housing volunteer will help members to search and bid/enquire about/visit properties, and attend meetings with the member (where coaching skills are not required).
We are excited to be able to offer these new opportunities for volunteers to work with and learn from the progression team.
