Spotlight on: The Workshop

We offer a wide range of construction-based sessions with our knowledgeable and friendly tutor Andy. Courses include plastering, tiling, painting and decorating and bricklaying all delivered from The Crisis Workshop, a 10 minute walk from the city centre.

DeanThere is the opportunity to achieve accreditation through all the courses, which are delivered in a purpose-built workshop environment. Don’t worry if you’ve never tried the subject before as the sessions are suitable for beginners through to those with more experience. Overalls and work boots are available too.

Following on from sessions at The Workshop, you can also access Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment, which you now need before you do the CSCS test, necessary for many construction-based jobs. You can start the courses at any time. For more information, or to register your interest, give Andy a call on 07807 604827/0151 2187000 or speak to any Crisis member of staff. Take a look at the timetable to see when courses take place.

Read about Dean’s story below, a member of CSM who has completed Plastering, Health and Safety and CSCS with Crisis Skylight Merseyside.

"I first discovered Crisis when I was living on the streets of London but never really knew what Crisis was about until I got clean and sober. Then I found that I wanted to improve and discover some new skills.

So far I have attended and finished the plastering course, which I’m hoping to put to good use in the future. I also feel it helped with my confidence and gave me a feeling of achievement.

At present I am doing the Health and Safety course which is helping me to gain back my Construction Safety Certificate Scheme (CSCS) card and will help me get back into work.

None of this would have happened if it wasn’t for the courses that Crisis offer and the friendly and helpful staff at Crisis."
