About Crisis

Christmas can be very challenging, but particularly for people who do not have a place that they can call home. We mobilise a huge volunteer effort to bring warmth, companionship, and vital services to people at one of the hardest times of the year. We help people take their first steps out of homelessness, offering Crisis’ year-round support and training to help them leave homelessness behind for good.

We are looking for volunteers to host and deliver a range of fun and accessible online activities for guests to get involved with this Christmas. Sessions will each be up to one hour long and be delivered from your own home via Zoom.

We are looking for sessions in the following areas: music, entertainment, wellbeing and exercise classes. You will need to have your own laptop with camera and a good internet connection, and be comfortable using Zoom. As part of this role you will:

  • Lead fun and engaging activities sessions over Zoom
  • Engage guests and empower them to take part in your activity
  • Adhere to online safety procedures in line with Crisis policy

The skills & experience we are looking for

  • Proven prior experience in facilitating an online session in your chosen activity
  • Experience of using Zoom
  • Ability to follow procedure to moderate guest behaviour and defer any potential issues to operations team moderators to manage.
  • A can-do attitude and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to Crisis’ purpose and values including equality and social inclusion
  • Ability to deliver Crisis at Christmas services in a fair manner ensuring that the safety of the guests is of paramount importance at all times

Additional information

All Crisis at Christmas Volunteers are required to:

  • Demonstrate the Crisis values and behaviours
  • Adhere to the Volunteer Code of Conduct
  • To maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all accessible information about guests, members and the organisation

  • We strive to ensure that our services are welcoming, remain relevant and are fully accessible to everyone that we help and support. We are particularly welcoming of volunteers from diverse and other marginalised communities, as this helps us ensure the best experience for those that we are here to help. People who have lived experience of homelessness are also particularly welcome to apply.
