Driver's Mate Volunteer

Role description

Supporting Crisis at Christmas and our members with deliveries of hampers and packs. Providing members who may be socially isolated with items to support their wellbeing at Christmas time.

We are looking for people to support our delivery service to Crisis members. You will work closely with staff and other volunteers to ensure the safe and timely delivery of packages such as hampers and wellbeing packs. You will help load and unload the vehicles, and accompany the volunteer driver on deliveries.  It will be helpful if you have a good knowledge of the surrounding areas. 

Core tasks

  • Transporting hamper, wellbeing packs and other goods to members’ addresses 
  • Navigating the route
  • Plan the route using the My Route Online tool (training will be given)
  • Checking in and out of your shifts with your supervisor 
  • Reporting to your supervisor any concerns raised during shifts regarding a person’s wellbeing or safety
  • Maintaining client confidentiality  
  • Completing e-learning required for the role
  • Following role risk assessment and COVID-19 guidance 

Additional information

We expect volunteers to comply with Crisis policies including health and safety, data protection and code of conduct at all times.

Travel and lunch expenses are reimbursed where appropriate
Some manual handling may be required for the role
