Our flagship Café from Crisis in Shoreditch, London, works to end homelessness through providing hands-on hospitality training, whist serving fresh, ethically sourced food and coffee. The live environment training programme and skilled, friendly staff make it the perfect spot to fill up, relax and learn about all the ways we are using hospitality to end homelessness.
And now, Kitchen from Crisis is putting the ethos of our café into a range of tasty products - each with a compelling story behind them.
Every Kitchen from Crisis purchase will help raise vital funds and awareness of how, together, we can end homelessness for good.
Our delicious vegan flapjack is made fresh in Kitchen from Crisis. It’s a special product, as it’s the first recipe our café trainees make on their first day in the kitchen - offering a chance to create a tasty treat, while building their confidence and self-esteem.
Grab a flapjack when you’re next popping into your local Shop from Crisis coffee bar - Peckham, Dalston, Finsbury Park or Croydon.
You can also find them at our local friends and suppliers, including Volcano Coffee Works and Second Shot.

Matt became homeless when he returned to England after a long time away. He didn’t have any family or connections, and had no choice but to live in hostels. When he met Crisis, his lead worker recommended joining the café training programme.
“On the induction day, we made the flapjack. I'd never cooked before, and I realised cooking can be messy, it's fun! When we were eating the flapjack together, I was thinking, ‘I can actually do this’. When I finished the Crisis training, I had the confidence to be a chef. I went from never working in a kitchen before, to running a pub kitchen in 5 months. Crisis gave me everything. Having the self-worth, knowing you are worthy of getting a job and not to give up – that's what I learnt from Crisis and the café training.”
Charlie, Hospitality Manager at Crisis, says: “We’re so proud to be launching Kitchen from Crisis, as we see first-hand the impact these products have on our trainees’ confidence, and of course our lovely customers who enjoy tasting them!”
“For Matt and people experiencing homelessness, whether in B&Bs or on the streets, they’ve not had access to a kitchen for a long time – so it’s brilliant watching them make something from scratch and put their own twist on it.
"And it’s not just about baking. It gives our members confidence to work in a professional environment, collaborate with others, and move out of homelessness.
“What an amazing feeling to buy a flapjack that helps end homelessness.”
