Buy the Christmas single in aid of Crisis
Talented homeless and vulnerably housed musicians from Newcastle have joined forces to release a Christmas single in aid of Crisis.
Have a Happy Christmas Time was written and recorded by Alan Robson, a client at Crisis Skylight Newcastle, and features vocal harmonies from Streetwise Choir, a group made up of people facing homelessness.
Robson began attending art and music classes at Crisis Skylight Newcastle in 2010, when he came to the centre for support in gaining employment. It was through Crisis Skylight Newcastle’s mentoring programme that Robson met volunteer David Littlefair, a local musician who has used his music contacts to help Robson produce, record and release the festive single.
Robson said: “Crisis has helped me through the tough times. Staff and volunteers like David have been fantastic, giving me support and guidance when I have needed it most. That’s why I’d like to give something back – to raise money so that Crisis can continue its work and give hope to people experiencing the hardship I did.”
June Grimes, Director of Crisis Skylight Newcastle, said: “We are delighted Alan has come so far because of the support he has received at Crisis and are very grateful to him for donating the proceeds of his brilliant, festive single to Crisis. We hope everyone goes online to buy the song and that it is a huge success. The money Crisis receives will go towards helping homeless people to transform their lives, at Christmas and beyond.”
