Incubating homelessness enterprises
Incubators such as The Hub, Kings Cross or the Ferry Project, Wisbech can be a way of providing a supportive environment for homeless people starting their own enterprise. In recognition of this, The 3xE Network is organising a series of visits for Crisis members.
Many people striving to create viable and sustainable social enterprises recognise the benefits of using hot desking or serviced workspace such as, The Hub, Kings Cross, or the Ferry Project, Wisbech. These ‘incubators' provide temporary accommodation with IT services and meeting rooms on tap, as well as the potential for inspiration, collaboration and support from peers.
For organisations working to help homeless people make the transition into self- employment, incubators can be a way of ensuring a supportive environment for those who want to start their own enterprise. The support and guidance from both peers and experts running the incubator can make the difference between success and failure.
The 3xE Network is organising a series of visits to successful workspace incubators that support both social enterprises working with those affected by homelessness, and the homeless themselves, starting with The Ferry Project in Wisbech in the east of England.
If you have a space that is under-utilised and would like to turn it into an incubator, or are running a social enterprise incubator and would like to visit or share some examples of good practice, please get in touch with James Boyle at 3xE on 020 7089 2741.
