11.06.2025
The national homelessness charity Crisis has described the UK Government's expected announcement of new investment in social and affordable housing as a 'vitally important commitment'. Chief Executive Matt Downie also concluded that the announcement expected at the spending review represented 'a determined political signal that housing really matters' [1]
Matt Downie, Chief Executive of Crisis, said: “This is a vitally important commitment to social and affordable housing. At a time of economic uncertainty and constrained finances, this represents a determined political signal that housing really matters.
“To start to address the problems we face with temporary accommodation and record levels of homelessness, we need a functioning housing system built on the bedrock of social homes. This new investment should be focused on providing a safe and stable base for those most in need, helping people move on from homelessness and giving children the best chance of a start in life.”
