Project summary

The Home Choice scheme provides people who may be homeless with the opportunity to move into a home of their choice and to avoid homelessness or a lengthy stay in temporary accommodation.

Clients

Who is eligible?

Those who have become homeless through no fault of their own and have been referred to the Scheme by the Councils Duty Officer.

Client services

The Home Choice Scheme may be able to help with:-

  • a deposit;
  • paying rent in advance (for the period to come);
  • reasonable agency fees at the beginning of your tenancy.

How are referrals made

Via the Housing Options Team

Landlords

Landlord services
  • Bond guarantee
  • Cash deposit
  • Direct payment of Housing Benefit
  • Ongoing tenancy support

They also pay reasonable agency fees to help with costs incurred when setting up a tenancy. Furthermore, the scheme can supply potential tenants very quickly, minimising costly void periods.
