Last updated: 02.10.2025
NHBC team pedals 4,260 miles to support Crisis – raising over £29,000 on the London to Amsterdam challenge
From 17 to 21 September 2025, a team of 12 determined cyclists from Crisis partners NHBC took on the Global Adventure Challenge London to Amsterdam Cycle, covering hundreds of miles over four days.
The challenge saw riders travel through stunning countryside, across international borders, and finally into the heart of Amsterdam - all powered by sheer determination, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to ending homelessness.
The impact
Together, their team cycled an incredible 4,260 miles in total, that’s further than the distance from London to New York! But it wasn’t just about the distance. Through their hard work, training, and dedication, the team raised over £25,000 for Crisis, supporting vital work in helping people experiencing homelessness across Great Britain.
More than just a ride
What made this challenge even more special was the strong bond it forged within the team. The long days in the saddle, the shared highs and lows and the unwavering encouragement from one another turned this cycling adventure into something truly unforgettable.
“We were led and supported by Tom Kitchen who is an experienced rider, through him proactively engaging with the team which made us feel confident and comfortable,” said team member Tobias Hollis. “Everyone supporting us was so positive, which really made a difference. And the wider team all supported one another with good humour - it was great to witness this level of encouragement.
Regional Director PA and team organiser Amanda Leigh-Lancaster adds:
“They really came together as a group, not only fundraising a great amount for Crisis but the teamwork they showed throughout the challenge was just amazing. Everyone had a place in the team and they have really bonded – memories for life. They are already looking at what’s next.”
A future without homelessness
In the wake of their efforts, we asked some of the team what their hopes were for the future;
“Ultimately, it would be great to see people being afforded the opportunity to better their situations and be supported to do that. Crisis does a great job in that regard and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to contribute in a small way.”
“I find it staggering that homelessness is even still a problem today with such extremes of wealth in the world. Nobody should have to face this and I hope the money we have raised can go some way to changing the lives of some people.”
Thank you
From Crisis to NHBC and their supporters – a massive thank you to everyone who donated, cheered and supported the team throughout the journey.
And to our incredible 12 riders — you did it!
