Charlie walks 50 miles in March to end homelessness

Six-year-old Charlie has lots of questions. When he sees people on the street he asks;

  • “Where are their mummies and daddies?”
  • “Who looks after them?”
  • ”Why can’t everyone have a home?”

Charlie decided he wanted to do something to help. So in March, he’s challenging himself to walk 50 miles to raise money for Crisis. He tells his story.

“I’m Charlie, I’m 6 years old and in March I’m walking 50 miles to raise money for Crisis.

“I always ask people I see outside of shops if they would like some food or a drink and stop to say hello when so many people just walk by. I asked my mummy if I could do something more to help people to have a home or a place to sleep.

“I wanted to raise money by doing an activity and my mum and dad helped with some options. I thought I could do lots of walking. So I am walking 50 miles in March which we think will take about 25 hours! My Grandma is helping me and every Saturday we’ve been walking 5 miles to help me reach my goal.

“Walking really far is difficult because I just get tired before I know it and sometimes my feet hurt. But I am enjoying seeing all of nature and I’m really proud to know I am helping people.

“If anyone else wanted to do it I would tell them to try your best and to do it with family because its more fun. And I’d tell them to remember that sometimes the littlest people can make the biggest difference!”

Right now, 330,000 families and individuals are experiencing the worst forms of homelessness. So this April, we are asking everyone to take one step for each person to raise money for Crisis.
