Crisis welcomes Government’s renewal of rough sleeping fund

The Chancellor today announced a further £10 million funding over two years to the Rough Sleeping Fund as part of his Autumn Statement 2016.

Jon Sparkes, Chief Executive of Crisis, said:

“We welcome the Government’s continued commitment to fund innovative projects that tackle and prevent rough sleeping. With rough sleeping having more than doubled since 2010, investment is needed now more than ever.

“However, the root causes of rough sleeping cannot be addressed without a change in the law and the funding to make it work. That’s why the Homelessness Reduction Bill, currently making its way through parliament, is so urgently needed. If passed, this crucial bill will help prevent people from all backgrounds from becoming homeless, instead of being forced to live on the streets.”
