Crisis responds to Government commitment of 6,000 new supported homes as part of commitment to end rough sleeping

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has today (Sunday 24 March) announced 6,000 new supported homes as part of their commitment to end rough sleeping.

This commitment will be backed by £160m of Government funding this year with 3,300 homes available in next 12 months.

Responding to this announcement, Jon Sparkes, Chief Executive of Crisis, said: “It’s great to see Government recognise that the bold action taken during the pandemic can be a spring board to end rough sleeping for good. This assertive approach, alongside ring-fenced funding, is what is needed.

“We must see this commitment deliver permanent, stable homes for people, not a temporary fix. This should apply to all those currently housed in hotels and those forced onto the streets during the crisis.”
