Project summary
Our Plymouth Renting Support Service (PRSS) offers people support to secure private rented accommodation, via referrals from Plymouth City Council.
Clients
Who is eligible?
People considered to be homeless or facing homelessness. Households who are: on a low income and local to Plymouth, Exeter or Teignbridge.

- Property inspection
- Referral to support services
- Assessment of client needs
- Practical support for tenants (e.g. advice on setting up tenancy/deposit)
- Deposit guarantee
- Fast track Housing Benefit service
- Housing Benefit assistance
- Assistance with finding properties in the PRS
- Tenancy support service
- Relevant certificates obtained before tenancy (Gas Safety Certificate etc)
Support is also available with photographic record of condition of property, to raise deposits and rent in advance via loans and grants, on-going tenancy specific support including mediation and negotiating with landlords.
How are referrals made
We accept referrals from the local authority Housing Options team in either Plymouth, Teignbridge or Exeter.
