Housing First

People can leave homelessness behind with the right help. For some, that means Housing First services that provide a secure home and tailored support. Housing First is an innovative approach that is proven to help people out of homelessness. But right now, there aren't enough Housing First programmes in England to help people who need this support.

We urgently need the government to provide funding for specialist support to help people into safe, secure homes. This will also help achieve the Government's goal of ending rough sleeping by 2024.

Housing First helps end homelessness.

Chris's story

Housing First should be accessible to more people with the aim of challenging homelessness and the problems that persist after a roof is found.

I believe this is a service that works for its service users. I believe it can help people and change lives, as it has with me."

Our campaigns

Our goal is to end all forms of homelessness and, where possible, prevent it from arising in the first place.

Right now, to best achieve the Government's goal of ending rough sleeping by 2024, we are campaigning for a renewed rough sleeping strategy that includes bespoke solutions such as:

  • Funding for specialist employment and housing support for EU citizens
  • The national rollout of Housing First

We are also campaigning for repeal of the 1824 Vagrancy Act.

With these solutions, the Government is more likely to meet its manifesto commitment to end rough sleeping in England by 2024.
