Our mission is to end homelessness by harnessing the power of entrepreneurship.
Since 2020, Crisis’ award-winning Venture Studio has been investing in and supporting startups developing innovative solutions to homelessness and the housing crisis. This work complements Crisis’ 50+ years of impact through policy, research, and frontline services, offering a new way to drive long-term, systemic change.
As of June 2024, 123,100 households were in temporary accommodation—a 16.3% increase from the previous year. We know we need to build 90,000 social homes annually to tackle homelessness in the long term. We aim to end or prevent homelessness for up to 1 million people. For that we need scalable, sustainable solutions that increase access to quality, affordable homes.
We use philanthropic capital to provide equity funding to businesses who can help us end homelessness by driving efficiency and affordability in housing.
We help founders create greater impact by co-designing solutions with people with lived experience of homelessness, and connect them to Crisis' expertise.
We nurture a community of innovators and entrepreneurs, and reinvest any returns, to tackle the drivers of homelessness over the long-term.

"My plan by the time I was 40 was to own a property portfolio and retire on the rental income. A colleague literally wagged a finger in my face saying this would deepen the housing crisis and with an actuarial skillset I have a responsibility to fix it. I realised I actually can make a difference. That's what planted the seed in my mind and I decided to do something about the housing crisis."— Raza Ullah, CEO & Founder, Pfida
Pfida is an ethical financial technology company working with local communities to provide debt-free homes and interest-free financial products that are accessible to all.
To date, Pfida have financed 187 homes.
A family of seven, including five children, were struggling to find suitable housing while relying on Universal Credit. No traditional bank was willing to offer them a mortgage due to their financial situation. Pfida were able to provide a housing solution through their unique interest-free product that enabled the family to secure a home aligned with Islamic principles.
Whether you're a startup with a solution to tackle homelessness or a funder who can help us amplify our impact, we want to hear from you.

To-date we’ve invested in eight companies doing everything from building modular housing, to developing software to support local authorities to meet their housing targets. In the future, we’ll expand this focus to include businesses tackling health inequalities in homelessness, and supporting people to maintain a secure income.
