Give the gift of connection: Crisis x Tesco Mobile Christmas sim card

Everybody has the right to be connected. With Christmas only one month away, we have an opportunity to give people the gift of connection so that no one has to spend the festive season homeless and alone.

2020 has been a difficult year for everyone. And it’s shown us how much we depend on each other for connection, hope, and support in difficult times.

Social distancing means we’ll be delivering our Crisis Christmas services in a different way, but in the true spirit of the season, we’ll be connecting with and supporting as many people experiencing homelessness as we possibly can. Our frontline teams will be providing people with somewhere safe and warm to stay, with volunteers on hand to provide emotional and wellbeing support, advice and access to Crisis’ year-round services to help people find a safe, permanent home. 

This year, thanks to our partnership with our incredible colleagues at Tesco Mobile, supporters can help Crisis to end homelessness this festive season by giving the gift of connection. From today, the Tesco Mobile Christmas SIM card is available to buy on the Crisis Shop to Stop Homelessness, and with a month to go, your Christmas shopping can be wrapped up earlier than ever before.

From just £5, you can give the gift of connection to someone experiencing homelessness by buying a virtual SIM card for your friends, family members or colleagues. The campaign will raise vital funds for Crisis to be able to provide phones, devices and connectivity for our Christmas guests, to allow them to continue to access our life-changing support services in the New Year.

What's more, money raised through purchases of the virtual Tesco Mobile Christmas (SIM) card from the Crisis website, before 7 January 2021, will be matched by Tesco Mobile up to the sum of £50,000!

About the Tesco Mobile x Crisis partnership

For many today, a digital connection can be a lifeline. Digital avenues of connection and the provision of phones, devices and connectivity (including data, minutes and texts) are critical in supporting people experiencing homelessness to access support and find somewhere safe and settled to live.

We’ve never had a better understanding of the value of connection – and the many reasons why it should be available to all. This is why together, Crisis and Tesco Mobile are determined to end homelessness once and for all. In August 2020, we entered into an ambitious two-year partnership to help reconnect thousands of people experiencing homelessness across Britain. In the first year, Tesco Mobile will be donating £700,000 worth of phones, devices and connectivity (including data, minutes and texts) to Crisis, as well as launching ways in which the public can get involved in playing a part in ending homelessness for good.

Since the country went into lockdown, Crisis staff have been delivering the majority of our support services for people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness, online. The Tesco Mobile devices and connectivity packs support Crisis members on their journey out of homelessness by allowing them to stay in touch with staff and continue to work towards finding a safe and settled home.

Without Tesco Mobile devices, many people would have been left without ready access to the vital network of support they need to leave homelessness behind once and for all.
