Icebreaker DIY
Take part in Crisis Icebreaker and do it your own way!
Lots of our supporters choose to get involved in January to kick off the new year, but you can join in from anywhere, at any time this Winter. This year we’d love you to fundraise by doing a Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day swim. But if you’d like to get involved with the original charity cold-water swimming challenge and can’t do a festive swim, email us for some ideas at swim@crisis.org.uk.
Kick-off 2027 in the right way. We’re calling on you to create your own Crisis Icebreaker cold water challenge and help someone to begin their life out of homelessness this Winter.
What is Crisis Icebreaker?
Icebreaker is Crisis’s annual cold water challenge fundraising to help end homelessness. It’s the ultimate way to start the year with purpose and connection. We’re hosting events at two iconic London Lido’s, but we’d love you to join our community of DIY Icebreakers across the country.
DIY for individuals and groups
Do you already do an annual Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day swim? Then set up a JustGiving page and fundraise for us, helping people facing homelessness find warmth, safety and a place to call home.
If a festive swim isn’t your thing, take inspiration from the Daily Dippers who take a cold dip every day for 1 month and raise sponsorship. Whether it’s a group dip in a wild swimming spot, or a quick dunk in an ice bath, this challenge is about commitment!
DIY for venues
Host or encourage a cold dip for Crisis at your venue. This could be a distance challenge for Crisis Icebreaker fundraisers throughout February, a cold dip meet-up or a chilly activity chosen by your community.
Cold water exposure can have some brilliant health benefits but before you take the plunge, it’s important to read the expert advice and guidance on how to take part safely.
