Transport Team Leader Volunteer

We are looking for a confident and experienced Transport Team Leader to liaise with the Kitchen Leader and Drivers, ensuring all food is delivered in a timely fashion and adhering to Food Safety regulations. You will induct the driving volunteers and must have a good knowledge of Newcastle and the surrounding areas, and be able to manage/support people well in a busy environment. Please note, if you are volunteering on 23rd December you will be finalising the routes of the drivers ahead of the delivery service running on 24th & 25th December.


Transport Assistant Volunteer

We are looking for a flexible and experienced volunteer to support the Transport Team Leader Volunteer in ensuring the coordination of deliveries between the kitchen volunteers and the transport volunteers. You will be liaising with drivers, ensuring they arrive and leave properties safely and keep the delivery service running on time. You will induct driving volunteers and also provide back-up in other areas of the day if there is an unexpected short-fall in volunteers.


Shift Leader

Each shift is managed by a member of staff and an experienced Shift Leader, who is responsible for overseeing the smooth and covid-secure running of the venue/all volunteer activities. Event on the set up day (23rd December), during the delivery event (24th-25th December), during the sit-down event (26th December) and on the clear down day (27th). You will be responsible for overseeing a small group of general volunteers and supporting across all areas of the delivery service or event. We need experienced shift leaders who are confident in ensuring volunteers adhere to our social distancing and covid-secure guidelines and who are flexible and can jump in to support activities where there might be an unexpected shortfall in volunteers.


General Volunteer

This role is for flexible volunteers who are able to jump in wherever there might be a shortfall in volunteers during the day. Other key tasks will include meeting, greeting and signing in volunteers on arrival and some health and safety responsibilities such as ensuring volunteers adhere to Covid-secure measures, cleaning the bathrooms on a rota and cleaning stations at the event. Please note role tasks will differ with 24th & 25th when the event is deliveries only (no guests) and on 26th when it is a sit-down meal.


Lead Hamper Coordinator Volunteer

On 24th and 25th December you will be responsible for supporting another volunteer and together you will be overseeing the hampers and ensuring the correct hampers go with the correct food deliveries. Each hamper will be labelled and you will have a list to refer to. Please note this role might have some manual handling involved as you might be required to carry hampers out to volunteer drivers cars. On 26th December you will be supporting guests at the event to collect their hamper.


Hamper Coordinator Volunteer

On 24th and 25th December you will be responsible for coordinating the hampers and ensuring the correct hampers go with the correct food deliveries. Each hamper will be labelled and you will have a list to refer to. Please note this role might have some manual handling involved as you might be required to carry hampers out to volunteer drivers cars. On 26th December you will be supporting guests at the event to collect their hamper.


Event Set Up Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support with setting up for our Christmas Event. We will be putting chairs / tables out, moving hampers from our warehouse to the venue (you will be based at the venue) and putting all event equipment in the correct places. Please note this role will involve some manual handling.


Event Clear-Down Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support with clearing down after our Christmas Event. We will be putting chairs / tables away, moving left over donations or hampers from the venue to the warehouse or Crisis (you will be based at the venue) and putting all event equipment back in the correct places. We will also be cleaning the venue (mopping / hoovering). Please note this role will involve some manual handling.


Lead Reception Volunteer

We are looking for a strong and confident volunteer to oversee a team manning the reception desk for guests arriving at our Christmas event. It is a fast-paced environment so you need to be able to work well under pressure, whilst still maintaining a friendly and professional approach to guests and volunteers. You will likely be asked questions on a range of topics so this role is suitable for volunteers with previous experience of Crisis. Your team will be responsible for signing guests in, giving information about the event and supporting with the transport service which is run for guests.


Reception Volunteer

We are looking for friendly and professional volunteers to welcome our guests to our sit-down event on 26th December, signing them in, giving information about the event and liaising with the transport team when guests are leaving. Being on reception there are peaks and troughs in workload so you will need to be able to work well under pressure but also be proactive during quieter times. This role suits volunteers with previous experience of volunteering at Crisis.
