Travel Phone Shop champions digital inclusion for Crisis members

Crisis has partnered with Travel Phone Shop to provide people experiencing homelessness with handsets and data as part of our In This Together emergency coronavirus campaign.

The firm approached Crisis early this year to offer their support, and since then have donated 150 phones to Crisis support centres, including our London, Newcastle and Edinburgh Skylights.

Many homeless people do not have ready access to technology, which is vital for staying in contact with the support services that Crisis offers. Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, it has been more important than ever before for Crisis coaches to be able to contact our members and continue sessions remotely.

The donated phones have been distributed to members of Edinburgh, Newcastle and London Skylights so that coaches can keep in touch throughout the pandemic and beyond. Many members will be self-isolating in emergency accommodation provided by local authorities and with have limited or no face-to-face contact with others, so access to phones will be vital.

Thank you so much to all the staff at Travel Phone Shop for your generosity in supplying the phones at this critical time. We look forward to continuing our work to end homelessness with you throughout the year.

If you are a company interested in supporting the In This Together campaign by making a gift-in-kind donations of products, please get in touch today via giftinkind@crisis.org.uk
