Crisis Skylight Oxford offers ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and is aimed at beginners with very limited English. Classes are delivered by an experienced and qualified ESOL tutor and we are looking for a volunteer to assist the sessions by supporting clients and helping build their confidence when learning English. We are looking for a volunteer to provide one to one help and support support to clients who have additional learning needs.
Crisis Skylight Oxford runs a weekly Photography class delivered by a tutor in which external trips off site are organised for clients to take photographs. These trips out are followed by an hour in our IT Suite for uploading, selecting, editing and printing client’s images. A selection of these photographs are also chosen for professional printing. We are looking for a volunteer to help clients with the IT side of this, as well as manage the printing orders. There is the option of joining the group on the trips but a DBS check will be required.
Crisis Skylight Oxford offers Open Access Computer Drop-In sessions, providing clients with access to computers and the internet for everyday use or personal learning. Tutor support and guidance is on hand for help with using computers or finding something to do such as learning to touch type, using the internet, practising for a driving test or CSCS card. We’re looking for a volunteer who can help support clients with using computers as well as help the tutor manage sessions.
This Winter, Crisis Skylight Oxford will be open over the Christmas period, except on bank holidays, to deliver services and activities to our clients in Oxford. Christmas can be a lonely and difficult time for clients so we would like to create an uplifting and positive experience, you’ll play an important part in the planning process to make this happen. We are looking for a temporary Christmas Events Planning Volunteer who will support the Volunteer Co-ordinator with the organisation and delivery of various events and activities throughout this period, your role will involve sourcing items and opportunities from external organisations as well as ensure that all activities and events are adequately planned for.
